The Course Lecturers and Instructors Special Unit General Assembly

The course lecturers and instructors’ unit held a Special General Assembly on June 7, 2013, in Leacock 232, where members approved the unit’s budget, revalidated our bargaining mandate, and set up a delegate structure.

Budget Update
At this meeting, course lecturers and instructors approved a new fiscal year budget. Following CSN’s audit report, delivered at the GA by our union’s FNEEQ advisor, a new budget was voted in.

Revalidation of the Bargaining Mandate
The bargaining committee reported on the latest developments in the ongoing negotiations, focusing on the issues of seniority and course attribution. The assembly agreed that the administration’s proposal was unacceptable. With a unanimous vote, the members revalidated the mandate of the bargaining committee to continue to pursue our original demands, thereby strengthening the union’s power to continue negotiating on the issues of seniority and course attribution on behalf of our members.

Delegate System
At this same meeting, we successfully put into place a delegate structure. Delegates act as a direct link between the union and their departments, and thus play an essential role in ensuring that the union continues to represent the interests of its members. If you would like to become a delegate and represent your department, please contact us.
We thank those who attended our last General Unit Assembly. We know that it is difficult to make time for these meetings, especially during the summer semesters, and greatly appreciate your effort to represent your department and participate in the shaping of your working conditions!

Best,
The Executive and Bargaining Committees of the Course Lecturers and Instructors Unit
